About Me

Thanks for visiting my blog. I started this blog in early 2011 to document my ever-growing collection of Dollfie Dreams, resin ball-jointed dolls (BJD’s), my figure collection and as a place to talk about the hobby.

I live in Toronto, Canada and have been working for a major airline since 2007 . My work takes me all around the world so I consider home to be where my suitcase is unpacked at the moment. Before that I was a Baroque classical singer and I’ve performed in amazing places like the Berlin Philharmonie, the Liederhalle in Stuttgart, Germany and the KKL in Lucerne, Switzerland.

I’m a semi-retired cosplayer (haven’t done anything in years) with several Master Division awards. I love Gloomy Bears (although I’m picky about the ones I collect!) and have almost 150 of them. Maybe more… it’s been a while since I’ve counted.

  3. That is true….. But these dolls are too cute. I saved up for a year and I have enough money
    ( I have $475 and I have a $250 gift card to amazon. For years, I looked for dollfie dreams for sale and I know all about them. I dislike the toys in the store because people tell me I am picky, when I mean picky I mean really picky!!!! I don’t even like most of the DD but I do like some. It is so hard for me to find a hobby so I looked at collecting dollfie dream. I thought sq labs are similar so I am going to collect those. I might make a blog about my doll soon. You don’t need a lot of dolls, you really need just one to sense that moment…………

  6. Hi, I found your page just by chance and I’ve found it to be a fantastic source of inspiration.
    I’ve got got a couple of questions I would like to ask if I may;
    Firstly I want to get a Dollfie Dream (tempted by DDS Mayu) but I don’t know what I need to get to start off my new hobby.
    Second question is where is the best place to purchase a Dollfie Dream, from Volks themselves or a third party retailer?

      If you’re interested in DDS Mayu, Volks USA is a good place to get her in the next week or so because they are having an online sale. This past weekend they had a huge in-store event to mark the closing of the physical store. There will be a big sale on their online store, and then it will close until early summer as they revamp their website. All the DD items were 10% this weekend, so I imagine it would be the same for the web sale.

      You could also order from Volks International directly, they ship anywhere but they don’t underdeclare so you might get hit with customs taxes if you live in Canada or Europe >_<"

      For limited sculpts you would have to look to the aftermarket (like Yahoo Japan Auctions, etc). If you're not already a member on dollfiedreams.com, I highly recommend signing up to that forum. Everyone is friendly and helpful – it is where I learned quite a bit of information when I was first starting out too!

      • Hi Archangeli. Thank you very much for the insight, I found it very useful. 🙂 Unfortunately the Volks USA site doesn’t ship to the UK, but I did order DD Aoi from the international website. I went with her instead of DDS Mayu because fell in love with her Tsudere face :p Hopefully she won’t be stuck in customs for too long.

    • I think this is only you have some kind of discount voucher/ coupon?
      I’ve made orders from DW before and not needed to put anything that field. You should be able to leave it blank. If not, email Natalie and ask @_@”

    Got my first dollfie (or rather said smartdoll) to start with recently! It’s a great hobby. Took me months to figure out who I wanted but when I saw Mirai I was sold. I guess that’s how it goes huh?

    Too bad I live in The Netherlands and won’t be able to attend any doll meetings you go to haha.

    You have some hobby’s with your girls like photography e.d.?
