Fashion Friday: “Her Royal Highness” Hinata

Time to showcase another lovely outfits that I’ve recently acquired! This is this gorgeous custom set called “Your Royal Highness” created by Puppy52! I fell in love with the gorgeous print of the skirt and knew that I had to have this set – and most of the pieces are sized for the DDdy/DDdy3 body, which can be hard to find clothing for.

It arrived in a beautiful box and Hinata was very excited to receive this present! What can be inside?

Alright, I’ll be honest, we were both super excited to open up the package so I forgot to take a photo of all the items inside, but here’s Puppy52’s photo from her blog –

Puppy52 knew that this would be a gift for Hinata (since she’s my only DDdy! Hehehe!) and drew this beautiful picture of her! It’s so gorgeous!! *___* Thank you!

I love how the jeans hug the DDdy3’s curves! Puppy52 omitted the belt loops on these capri jeans so there is less bulk at the waistband when tops are worn loosely over top of them.

There are so many pieces that Hinata would look a bit silly wearing them all at once, so Serena is here to help model too!

This skirt is designed to fit on all Dollfie Dream body types and it’s so pretty! Hinata couldn’t let Serena walk away with it, so here she is modelling it with some cute coordinating stockings. Hinata is showing off a beautiful ‘Red Wine’ coloured wig to coordinate with this outfit set – do you like it on her?

I’m thrilled to own this beautiful set! Puppy52 has just listed a new one-off set for sale as well – details are on her blog. If you like it, please support her wonderful work!

Hinata and Aki’s Day out in Vancouver

Earlier this week I brought Hinata with me to Vancouver and was whisked away by Puppy52 and Aki for the day! We had lunch at Aberdeen Center and then drove into Steveston Village to take some pictures of the girls.

I only took a few photos with my iPhone since I forgot my camera, but Puppy52 posted some beautiful photos that she took on her blog

Dollfie Dream Meetup in Toronto – March 16, 2013

Last weekend a few of the Toronto-based Dollfie Dream owners met up for a small doll met, and we welcomed 3 new faces! AkaTG, Nurlindae and a friend of MrCool00236’s came to hang out with us. Since we were a small-ish group, we went to Café Princess and brought a few dolls with us! We had a loose theme of Springtime, Easter and St. Patrick’s Day so there were lots of cute outfits on the dolls!

Dollfie Dream meet!

We weren’t able to book the party room so we sat out front, and it was actually very nice since there was more natural light. These girl were early so they got set up first –

Mini Dollfie Meetup in Hong Kong

Earlier this week I was in Hong Kong for work, and through the magic of Twitter, I managed to meet up up with a couple of Dollfie Dream owners: @quentinlau and @Maqywhaq. In my jet-lagged state I forgot my camera in my hotel, so iPhone photos will have to suffice! >;_<;" Sorry!

I brought Hinata with me because she was the only DD dressed in "casual" clothes (you'll see why in a few days) and Quentin brought his awesome Black Rock Shooter custom made by SQ-Labs!
@senorquentinos super cool #BlackRockShooter custom #DollfieDream !!! (And Hinata lurking behind)

It was so cool to get to see her in person, and study how she was put together. So many subtle details that went into her and it was really interesting to study them, from a technical point of view after encountering some interesting obstacles in making my KOS-MOS custom DD.

Lovely Hinata in Something Blue

Hinata recently was upgraded from her DD2 body to the DDdy3 body and wanted to wear the lovely new dress to showcase her new assets.

Hinata

The dress she’s wearing is the “Something Blue Wedding Dress” from the recent Volks Dolpa in Sendai, Japan. It came with the dress, choker arm covers, lovely white thigh-high stockings with white lace trim, and a veil. I rather like the dress just on it’s own as a pretty tea dress – it reminds me of the beautiful silhouette that dresses had in the 1950’s at the height of the Christian Dior “New Style.” I think the next time Hinata wears this, she needs some pearls and a lovely hat!

Hinata

The dress is actually three separate pieces – the bodice (which is lined in white), an underskirt made of a white brocade-like fabric (that has a layer of soft tulle built in for a bit more puffiness) and the overskirt, which has the lovely blue fabric with a sheer white chiffon layer over it and the lovely lace trim. Since the overskirt isn’t attached, it can be worn so that the bow is at the front, back or off to one side. For collectors who own the Volks “Sugar Milk Cookie” outfit from Kyoto 9, the blue to this dress is a little bit lighter. It isn’t nearly as bright as the “Alice Maid” set.

Here Hinata is wearing just the bodice and the white brocade skirt to show the lovely texture of the fabric. I’ve already got a few mix-and-match outfits in mind for this lovely white skirt.
Hinata

I was drawn to this lovely dress because once I looked past the “Bridal accessories” that it came with, I saw a very lovely cocktail dress. I think Hinata looks very lovely in blue, don’t you?

What Hinata Came Home To . . . (Welcome Home DD Rin Tohsaka!)

This past Thursday evening I met up with some Japanophile friends for dinner in London, UK. Fransgaard, Jezatron, GabrielVH, CookieDude_2332, UiNeonskittles and I met up at a fantastic sushi restaurant in Camden called Asakusa. I had been hoping to take time to fly to London in June to attend the memorial doll meetup for our late friend D.ark Dollhouse, but circumstances were against me and I couldn’t get the time off work. It was really nice to just hang out with these guys again. Gabe and I had brought a couple of DD’s with us but the restaurant was so crowded and busy that it didn’t seem appropriate to bring out our girls. Instead, Mr. Snuggles popped out to visit –

Hinata and Mr. Snuggles settled in for a good nights rest before traveling home (in my suitcase >__<“)

When Hinata woke up, she was already home! She slept the whole way home from London!

Dollfie Dream Picnic on Ward’s Island, Toronto

Last weekend, I met up with a few Dollfie Dream owners and we took the ferry from downtown Toronto to Ward’s Island for a potluck picnic and a lovely afternoon in the sun. The weather was perfect and we found a beautiful spot on the island with a gorgeous view of the Toronto skyline and a little piece of beach nearby.

We originally had the dolls sitting underneath parasols to protect them from UV exposure, but as the afternoon wore on the shade shifted. Here are all of the beautiful dolls relaxing in the shade.
DD picnic on Ward Island

Here are PlasticFantastic’s Amber, and Machiko’s little resin girls Lareine and Delilah. The UV sunlight exposure isn’t a huge issue with the vinyl Dollfie Dream girls, but it was important to keep the little resin dolls out of direct sunlight since it can cause yellowing of the resin over time. How to Remove & Change Eyes for a Dollfie Dream (with video!)

When I was in Tokyo last month, I adopted a beautiful Dollfie Dream Shino (that I’ve renamed Hinata). While I was taking photos of her, I noticed that one of her eyes was misaligned, so when I came home I decided to remove her default eyes and install some different ones just for fun. Changing a doll’s eyes is a very quick and easy way to personalize her and give them a whole new look.

I’ve since become quite comfortable with changing DD eyes, but I still remember the first time I did it for Aerie and how nervous I was.I decided to take step-by-step photos of the process of removing default eyes in case any of you decide you would like to do it.

Here’s Hinata still wearing her default eyes. Notice how the one on the left is dark and doesn’t catch the light? It’s actually positioned 2mm lower the the one on the right so that pretty honey colour in the iris doesn’t even show, and it’s angled downwards!
