Mini Dollfie Dream meetup in London – March 3, 2013

Earlier this month I made a quick visit to London and was able to meet up with some awesome DD owner friends from across the pond. I met up with GabrielVH, Jezatron and Pink_Blaise for a day of eating, chatting and goofing around and it was a wonderful way to spend the day!

I met up with Pink_Blaise in the afternoon and we enjoyed tea, pastries and macarons on the sunny patio of the Ladurée tearoom in Covent Garden. It was still a bit chilly but sunny days in London are such a rare treat! I hadn’t seen Pink_Blaise since last November so it was great to be able to catch up on exciting news going on in her life! ^__^”

We had the St Honoré Rose Framboise Pastry, Cassis-Violet Religieuse pastry and a trio of macarons (salted caramel, violet marshmallow and green apple). Delicious!

Dollfie Dream Meetup in Toronto – February 16, 2013

Oh my goodness time flies! I’ve been meaning to post about our last Toronto meet ages ago, but time just got away from me! A few weeks ago many of the Toronto-area Dollfie Dream owners got together at Go For Tea in Markham. This was our largest meetup to date (with 20 attendees!) but luckily they have a very big party room off to the side that was able to accommodate our large group! Here are some of the beautiful dolls in attendance –

Group shot
Back row: Juu-Yuki’s Kirito & Asuna, PlasticFantastic’s Juno, my Rin Tohsaka, Annalise & Serena, and Meo’s Tamaki.
Middle row: PlasticFantastic’s Maya, Tanu-chan’s Kairi, AgentPanda’s Penny, my Médée, Meo’s Misuzu and Lillia
Front row: nkei’s Charlotte & Kokoro, AgentPanda’s Dotty, my newly arrived Mayuyu (custom HDD-06 painted by Machiko), PlasticFantastic’s Yuki, di-chan123’s Sia, MrCool’s Yukino and centurystory’s Primula

And hiding behind all the big dolls there was a little resin BJD picnic! So much cuteness!

A Touch of Modesty! ^__~” (NSFW)

I love the curvaceous look of the large bust and shapely L-bust on Dollfie Dreams, but one of the things that irks me is the extremely obvious nipples that can poke through most outfits! Call it a crazy girl thing, but I wouldn’t walk out with my headlights on full bright so it’s not a look I care for on my dolls either!

I’ve been meaning to try sanding down the nipples on a bust piece for a while, and got around to trying it today. I’ve added the NSFW tag because there are naked doll busts 😛

So here are a couple of busts that I have laying around that I wanted to experiment with. On the left is a DDdy3 normal bust, and on the right is a DD2 L-bust. Upon inspecting the inside of the busts I noticed that the nipples are not hollow, so I could get away with some sanding without damaging the bust piece.

How to Remove & Change Eyes on an older Dollfie Dream (with video!)

Time to re-visit the topic of removing eyes from DD’s again! I’ve previously written a tutorial on this topic, and made a short video showing how I removed the eyes from DD Rise Kujikawa. I received some feedback saying that although the tutorial was helpful to show how easy it is to remove eyes out of a new doll made with the soft vinyl, older DD girls pose different challenges.

I wanted to test this out, so here is the lovely Sakura Matou to help me out!
Sakura Matou eye change
Sakura was released at Dolpa 23 in May 2010, so she’s made of the old harder vinyl. I had a nightmare of a time trying to pry her headcap off! T___T” I had to use my blow-dryer to warm up the vinyl and then apply brute force! >__<”

Rather than document with photos (since I’ve already done that previously with Hinata), I made a real-time video of me removing Sakura’s eyes. I really wasn’t sure what to expect o_0″

Moe’s Sweet Treats!

I hope all my friends had a lovely Valentine’s Day! Today Moe wants to share some beautiful French desserts with you! Here she has a plate of macarons and a Raspberry-Rose eclair!
IMG_8224

Want something more substantial than that? Try the Religieuse Rose from Ladurée! It’s a delicate fondant-crowned crème-filled choux puff and baby crème-filled puff on top.
IMG_8231

In the mood for something more decadent? How about the Saint-Honoré Rose Framboise from Ladurée?
IMG_8225
With it’s delicately rose-flavoured chantilly cream, miniature choux pastry puffs and fresh strawberries it is a delight for eyes and the tastebuds!
IMG_8228

Moe’s delicious treats were hand-crafted by Snowfern Clover (without a magnifying glass!! 0__0″). I’ve been a fan of her beautiful miniatures for quite some time, but she has only more recently posted 1:3 scale items on her etsy shop. With the obsession that my sister and I have for Ladurée, and the Saint-Honoré Rose Framboise in particular I couldn’t pass on these beautiful miniature pastries!

My sister and I have dined and shopped at many Ladurée tearooms and boutiques in London, Paris and Tokyo; it’s a bit of an addiction really! Here’s a photo from last November when we went to the Ladurée tearoom in Harrods in London and had a decadent afternoon tea!

How to Trim & Style Bangs on a Doll Wig

I wanted to share a quick tutorial on how I trim the bangs on my doll’s wigs ^__^”

This is a new wig that I just bought, but as you can see the bangs are WAY too long in the front. Nana looks very silly right now! (I believe my European friends refer to bangs a ‘fringe,’ just to avoid any confusion! ^__~” )
IMG_8236
I’ve found that most doll wigs from various companies come with their bangs a bit long – I think it’s just the way that they are manufactured and it’s not a bad thing. Since there are many types of dolls out there, with differently sized and shaped heads, having the bangs a bit long gives some styling options.

Of course, an easy way to solve this is to just brush the bangs to one side, maybe apply a bit of product to help it stay put, or put a clip.
IMG_8242
While this doesn’t look horrible, I don’t really like it. Think of it this way, if I were to scale things up, that would be a very big hair clip sitting smack in the middle of my forehead! If I went out in public like that I’d look very foolish! >__<”

Casual Portraits

I had a short photo session with a few of my girls this morning since the sun was shining and I was awake! (Believe me, after sleeping most of January away, this was quite something!) The first order of business was to take a new photo for my website banner – I hope you guys like it! I went with a soft pink wardrobe theme since Valentine’s Day is coming up ^__^” ♥

In a few days it will be Lily’s 2nd birthday! What better way to celebrate than with a few lovely casual portraits of my first Dollfie Dream!

A few days ago I met up with my friends Puppy52 & her hubby, LightningSabre, Shigematsu, cheesienpaw and Galamirix for afternoon tea at the Urban Tea Merchant in Vancouver, Canada. A few lovely dollies came with us too!

I brought my newest girl with me – Nana-chan, who is a pre-painted Volks 07 head. She has a beautiful mature look, and a little hint of a neko-mouth ^__^”

Dollfie Dream Meetup in Toronto – January 5, 2013

Happy New Year everyone! I spent the first few days of 2013 in bed with the flu, but I medicated myself to make it to the first Dollfie Dream meetup of the year in Toronto, with our special guest Otakusan167 who was visiting from Alberta, Canada! I’m a bit behind with my blogging but I’m going to do my best to catch up over the next few days!

Doll Meet in Toronto!

Since I had zero energy to dress up my girls in new outfits, I brought Aerie and Gabi with me, since they were already dressed up for the “Winter Casual” theme ^__~” Gabi is wearing her pretty pink coat still from her visit to Germany

Gabi in Germany!

Since I was working on Christmas I wanted to bring a bit of home with me, since it’s never fun being far from home during the holidays, when everyone else is celebrating with friends and family. Since I was in Mainz, Germany, I brought Gabrielle with me since it’s kind of her Vaterland ^__~” (I’ve always thought that her DDS Akira default outfit was very German looking). My original plan was to dress her up in her default outfit but I really didn’t like it AT ALL and couldn’t change her out of it fast enough! So instead she dressed for a chilly winter day!

Here’s Gabi on Ludwigstraße, with a beautiful Christmas Tree set up in the plaza in front of the Theatre. Behind is the St. Martin’s Dom –

(I got lots of weird stares whenever I pulled Gabi out of my tote bag for pictures @__@” It’s not so bad when I’m with a group but in a foreign country it was quite awkward >__<" )

Holiday Mini-Meets

Happy Holidays everyone! I’ve had a few small Christmas doll gatherings at my house in the past few weeks but I’ve been quite busy at work so everything will be lumped into one long post!

A few weeks ago PlasticFantastic brought Nia, Lily and Maya over to help decorate the Christmas Tree!

Holiday Doll Meet in Vancouver – December 15, 2012

Last weekend I had the good luck to be in Vancouver the same time as the big holiday-season doll meetup in Vancouver! I was only able to stop by for a couple of hours before running off to work, but it was so nice to see my Vancouver-based doll friends and meet some new ones too!

The meet was in the party room of one of the member’s condo, and it was a nice casual meet with many different types of dolls. I’ve never attended such a large meetup before but I felt right at home since the members are very friendly and I’ve met several Vancouver-based doll owners over the past year or so ^__^”

Unfortunately I left my brain in Toronto, and forgot to bring my doll carrier bag with me (*sigh*) so I had no dollies of my own with me, so I went around taking pictures of everyone else’s dolls instead.

Welcome Home Dollfie Dream Sakura Matou!

Today a few of my girls helped me to formally welcome home the newest Dollfie Dream the family! Aerie, Serena, Lily, Rin and Médée would like to introduce Sakura Matou!

Sakura Matou Arrives!

I’m very excited to have Rin Tohsaka’s sister from Fate/Stay Night, but she is also Serena’s sister since I adopted her from my late friend D.ark. I’m very honoured to be able to give this pretty girl a loving new home.

Lily, Annalise & Médée on VolksUSA Blog!

It’s hard to believe that November has come and gone. It’s been an amazing month – I had the chance to meet lots of new friends in the Dollfie Dream community across oceans, I celebrated my birthday in London and before the the craziness of December and the holiday season comes upon us, I just wanted to look back at the beautiful autumn months with a few photos that were featured on the VolksUSA blog today. ^___^”

Lily and Médée Out for a Stroll

In other news, the Volks Dollfie Dream Xenosaga pre-order project for KOS-MOS and M.O.M.O. has opened and will be running until January 20, 2013. I’ve already placed my order – and advise anyone else that’s interested to do so too, this is a good opportunity to get a beautiful Dollfie Dream without having to contend with lotteries!
